Donating blood is a great way to give back to society! The Red Cross in Korea visites college campuses, office buildings, and military bases regularly in thier bus- literally, a blood bank on wheels. Of course, there are blood donation centers you can visits, too. First, you fill out a medical history form and undergo a short physical to screen whether you're healthy enough to donate. To draw the blood, they usually use a vein on the inside of your elbow. The entire process takes about ten minutes, during which you may be asked to squeeze a ball to make the blood flow out faster. After you're done, you must stay about ten minutes in case there are complications. During that time, replenish your body with the light refreshments -like cookies or milk-provided by the blood center. You'll also be given a small gift of thanks, such as movies tickets.
